Steampunk Easter egg

I was going to make an Easter egg for a friend. I wanted to make different egg, and therefore I made a Steampunk egg.

This started out as a normal paper mache Easter egg. I mounted it on a stand, fixing each side of the stand to each side of the egg. Half of the egg was covered with embossed metal tape, and the other half was covered with gesso. The structure was added to the gesso before it dried. Then the gesso was painted black and golden Meta Mica was added for effect.

The wings is my own design. They have been cut with a Silhouette and embossed.

The hooks has been designed and cut with the silhouette. Several layers of paper hooks has been glued together to create the strength needed.

The egg opens with the opening vertical. The inside of the egg has been covered with papers from

Found Objects - A Prima PP Layout

My dog often wants to be around me all the time, also when I craft. So I decided to do a layout with a photo of the dog. I was challenged by Hobbykunst, to create something out of a canvas and a golden frame.

The canvas was used as a background. The background paper is Primas Lily Princess. I used Gesso, stencils, and distress paint to create the effects on the background paper. I covered the frame with Mod Podge, and with paper from Kaisrcraft: Weathered - Base Coat, and sealed it with another coat of Mod Podge. The tiles and banner are made with cardboard and old Prima papers.

This was the theme for March Prima Product Pick. It was filled with beige, blue and green flowers, banners and gorgeous colours.

Since the photo was with the dog and a tape roll, I decided to decorate with Washi tape. I find it difficult to use in projects - so I used an old roll. The bird is a clay figure made by Gunn-Eirill.

I used  a distressed lacer cut wood boarder from Prima. The "Found Objects" is from Tim Holtz.

The flowers is mostly a mixture of old and new Prima flowers. I have used cheese cloth in layers between all the flowers.

A holiday layout

I was asked to be guest designer for Alt om Scrap this month. I was asked to make something for the theme "Travel". I made a layout with photos taken a year ago in Australia (Shell Beach at Shark Bay and  Kangeroo Island).

Papers are from Prima's new collection, Ava Princess and Lily Princess. I have used stencils, distress paint, gesso and distress ink to create the background effects. I have used shells, flowers and pieces of sponge (used for soap making), lacer cut wood boarder from Prima and Prima clay tiles.  The small round circles are are pieces from Rayher Ribbon. The clay key, is handmade.

I have also used gauze cloth under the flowers and photos. The birds in the top right corner are made by Gunn-Eirill

We have a new challenge at StampARTic. This time, the challenge is a colour challenge.

I have used Primas new papers, Stationairs, Captured DramaRed Romance and Fine Print.
The red roses are handmade.  Leaves are Mathia design. The box, roses and leaves had been distressed with Gesso. I have added strands of "bling" between the flowers.

The heart box is a paper mache box from Hobbykunst. I cut the paper to fit the box, and glued it on with modge podge.

Collage - Art class with Sherry Mendoza

In 2012, I took an art class with Sherry Mendoza. This was my first meeting with dylusions sprays, glimmer mists and gesso. Before the class, I was most comfortable with making 3D projects and vintage cards. The class sent me on new adventures....

This is a collage made for StampARTic. The layout is a sketch from Prima (build a page - March). I really find it difficult to create something in orange and yellow, so this was a challenge. All the small images are ATC size.

Primas build a page for March.

The background paper is dylusions spray on watercolour paper. The edge stamp is from Prima. The letters ART has been painted with crackle paint and Glossy accent. Flowers are from Prima. Stencil on the green background from Tim Holtz.

ATC size piece from the layout. Stamps from Prima. The white  clay bird is made by Gunn-Eirill.

Another ATC piece. Butterfly from G45.

Happy scrapping ;)

A paper basket - an alternative easter egg

At StampARTic, , the design team challenged ourselves to use sweet wrapper in our projects.

This time, I have made a basket. The basket is a folding basket. The template has been published by several crafters. I have added two boxes on the top, like an old sewing box. The idea to make a basket in this shape, is after several different baskets seen at Taras Craft studio:  Basket one and Basket two

The paper, is from an old Christmas collection from Panduro. The green swirls and leafs are diecuts from a mint chocolat paper (Freia 70% Mint). I have also glued golden chocolate paper from Ferrero Rocher over the brads, screws and nuts, to make them golden.

The large off white roses are hand made, made by punching out flowers, and gluing them together.

A birthday card

We have got some new inspiration from StampARTic. This time it is birthdays.

This time I made a birthday card, using a digital stamp from Saturated Canary and coloured it with Prismacolor. The butterfly punch is a memory box die. Roses are rolled with left over paper.  The clay butterfly is homemade from a modge podge mold.
